Hello.

I am just about finished with my 10th month of employment. I will complete my contract the end of June.

However, the last day on my ARC is the same as my last day of employment. (6/30)

If I fish to find a job elsewhere, what is my best course of action?
I searched and read the D10 has to be processed after I finish my contract. That would be the last day of my ARC status so I don't know how that is possible.

There is a 30 day extension where I cannot work but to get that I need a plane ticket home and I don't know if I could look for work or accept employment with that status or not.

Other than starting from scratch or renewing with my present employer I am not sure what I can do. I can look for a job now as I have a couple months remaining, but even if I get a job I am not sure how the transition could work since my ARC and contract end on the same day.

I read normally people get a 30 days extra usually, as in a 13 month visa, but mine was just for 12 months. Anyone know if contacting immigration could get that 30 period?

Thanks.

Go in sometime in the last few days of work (last date is best).
The change D10 status days a few minutes at the counter (even if the processing of the new ARC takes a few weeks).

It IS inconvenient but hey, welcome to "not home".

Inconvenient is okay as long as it is possible.

The last day (Monday), I don't think I could get to the place on time, although I can try asking if my workplace would allow me to leave early.
The previous Tuesday would I think be no problem and Thursday would possibly be okay too. But even if I do it prior to the last day can I still finish the the contract?

Thanks.

Officially = no. When you change to the D10 you are "unemployed".

In practical terms... non-issue. Change any time in the last few days and complete your work.

Just to confirm, but for the above to work I probably need a letter of release don't I? Unless I do it on the last day (30th), by somehow getting permission to leave early?

I may be able to get one since relationship is fine with employer, but I don't know for sure whether they will or will not give one when I request it.

If it doesn't work and I have to re-do my E2 from scratch, do I still need a FBI Background check even if immigration has one on file from my current E2 and I haven't left Korea?

And would I need another diploma copy even if one is on file with immigration?

Thanks.

You won't need them for immigration.
You won't need them for the MOE.
You MIGHT need them for the new employer - employer requirement.
- can you refuse to supply them = yes.
- can they refuse to hire you = also yes.
