British actor Bob Hoskins, whose varied career ranged from noir drama Mona Lisa to animated fantasy Who Framed Roger Rabbit, has died aged 71.
A family statement released Wednesday by publicist Clair Dobbs said Hoskins died in a hospital after a bout of pneumonia. He had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2012.

Can't say I was ever a HUGE fan of his, though he certainly was a competent enough actor. I recall seeing him in Mona Lisa back in the 80s, when both he and Neil Jordan were relative unknowns.
His performance as J. Edgar Hoover in Nixon was entertainingly over-the-top, though something about the scene always left a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe the gay stereotyping, I dunno. Somehow, I doubt that was what life at Hoover's place was really like.
Never saw Roger Rabbit, and never had any real interest. Eh, the 80s.
