How many days stay after contract completion?

My contract ends on June 20.
My ARC expires on July 20 (one month after contract).

Is there any way to extend that July 20 day just one week.
I don't want to transfer to D-10 for other considerations.

On July 20 (last day of ARC), there is a TOPIK test I would like to take (ends at 6:00 PM). Also, looking ahead to my Thai travel it helps for the Thai immigration rules if I don't arrive there until July 27 (one week later).

So, is there a way to extend an ARC beyond the one month that they already give after contract completion (except for the D-10 visa?)

Thanks,

Isnt this the 3rd or 4th thread you've started about your visa?

Yes, I am a bit obsessive compulsive and I can't decide what route to take between this visa and the next. I have plan A, B, C, D and spreadsheets and pros and cons lists...

Perhaps. I was at immigration once and I met a guy who wanted to stay 1 extra week so he could watch a big soccer match. I think they let him stay an extra week so long as he purchased a flight ticket leaving the country after that week and came back to show them or something. Not sure what his visa was. I would suggest going to immigration and tell them you are planning to take a test before you go and see what you can work out.

Well, today is the last day for a $99 ticket direct Incheon - Bangkok, so I took a chance and went on and bought the ticket.

The Korean Immigration site says you can go and extend a registered stay by 30 days by making an appointment and going in more than 3 days before the end of sojorn. Sounds great, just what I want.

The confusing thing is that nowadays immigration already adds 30 days on to the ARC validity after the contract completion date. So, will they extend the ARC by another 30 days (I will ask for 20) even after 30 days already adding on to the contract end date? I shall see... In the worst case I have to make a boat trip to Japan...

Thanks.

Yes. You can get 30 days for "touristic purposes" added onto the end of any registered sojourn. It is free. You need to show your passport, ARC and exit ticket.

It has nothing to do with the extra 30 days added to first period of sojourn that they add

The reason for a 13 month 1st period being that many people needed a few days more than 1 calendar year to complete their initial contracts due to not starting work immediately on entry and it saves immigration and employers the trouble of providing "work" extensions for very short periods or having employees work illegally for a few days to complete their contracts.

That is great news, thank you. My schedule is working out perfectly.
I can take the TOPIK exam July 30 and then go to Thailand for less than 30 days, before returning to Korea for Korean class.
