Just thought I should warn my fellow cigar smokers about the cigar shop on the second floor of the hamilton shopping center. I was there the other day and was about to make a rather large purchase when i noticed some small insects on a Monte Cristo 4. On closer examination every single box we checked was infested with tobacco beatles. They are small enough that its not difficult to miss them if your not looking. Sad

Why would you make a large purchase from her!!?? Her prices are three or four times more expensive than online. Also, her selection is crap. Check out: http://www.cigarsofhabanos.com/home.aspx Free delivery and fast. I usually get my smokes within four days of ordering.

Ya the cigar Hamilton lady has always been crud. Her prices are outrageous and her storage of cigars is horrible.

If you want to buy cigars in the future.
Check out Burn bar in Habachon area next to Itaewon
http://burninhal.com
Or Maska's in the JW Marriott Hotel lobby. Both are honest prices (for Korea taxes and duties) and quality care of cigars.

If you are regular smoker then I also recommend cigars of habanos. website above. They are pretty quick to send and they *cough* fudge *cough* on customs. I use a Korean credit card to order from them.

Message me if you want more details. Where are you located?

Agreed - that was a good one.

As for the beetles, thanks for the warning, as I had never heard of them before - but then again, I only smoke about six cigars a year. After reading the post I found a couple sites though that give a lot of good info on causes and prevention. Apparently they are pretty common.

http://www.cigarsinternational.com/cigar-101/article/25/tobacco-beetles
"To defeat this enemy, you must first understand him. No bigger than the size of a pinhead, just the mention of this little l'Enfant Terrible is enough to send cigar lovers into a tizzy. In the worst case, it can invade your humidor at home and render it into a pile of dust. These suckers eat like pigs, spread like wildfire, and lives for two things: tobacco and heat. Adult beetles measure about two to three millimeters long and live only 2 to 4 weeks, and thrive in humid climates and hot temperatures above 74 degrees. "

By the way, it sounds like that shop owner has a major problem on her hands. Did you point it out to her?

Yeah I asked if she had any Montecristo 4's and when we first opened the box there was a dozen or so scurrying around. She opened a second box and same thing. I then asked to double check the boxes my other cigars had come from and again. Bingo.

I told her Id come back another time and try again.

Shes aware of the problem. She seemed a bit annoyed. I guess she has good reason to be.

http://pierrecigar.com/

a bit expensive...but then, what isn't?

His site also has a large list of reputable shops....under...shop...approved distributors.

That lady of the 2nd floor is not customer friendly....she wants to separate you from as much of your money as possible. Her prices are way too high.

If you don't buy from her....her attitude turns quickly...but as long as she thinks you'll buy something...she's as nice as can be.

Speaking of tobacco shops, I'd kill for a pack of "Player's Smooth." Wish someone would import Canadian rather than American stuff all the time.
