We know from other nations how to decrease gun deaths...decrease guns.

The real problem in the USA is they only care about profits. Drugs make profits. Gun make profits. An externality of gun profits is death, but the corporation is not concerned with externalities. The corporate always seeks to pass the externality off on the individual, "you did it, not the gun, it's not our fault".

This can be observed in the sugar and tobacco industries also. Americans never learn, they just keep getting duped.

Well, the killers did do it, using the guns inappropriately.

Anyway, banning all firearms of every kind will not work in America. But, as you say, doing nothing is madness in the face of so many rampage killings. The NRA has obstructed any kind of reform in the name of industry profits. The Second Amendment is a distraction. A society can regulate firearms without eliminating them entirely.

This is a cultural belief however, the way Americans think. Other nations who do not have a gun-death problem (thus the one who are correct) would believe the existence of guns did it.

Yeah and that's the point of the Onion title, that other countries already have proof of what works, despite Americans saying "it can't be avoided". Korea for example.

So you believe the guns shot themselves? Firearms do not have agency.

Americans do not say 'it can't be avoided.' Its an Onion article which says that. Americans say 'let's regulate firearms.'

The most recent surveys included a CNN/ORC International poll released last week that indicated 86% of the public supported some form of background checks that are not currently required by law for gun sales, and an ABC News/Washington Post survey released Tuesday which indicated that 86% of Americans said they favored background checks for gun sales on the internet and at gun shows.

Yup. And you're not motivated by concern for the deaths of innocents, but are instead more interested in condescending to Americans.

No. That's my job Laughing or so I have been accused of (but only by Americans).

Deaths of innocents.
Gun control.

Didn't we hear this song about a dozen times last year out of America / from Americans?

It won't stop because:
a) the political will to make it stop doesn't exist and
b) the American people don't have enough faith in their own governments, state or federal, (rightly or wrongly so) to makes the changes that are necessary.

It is doomed to repeat itself.

B is wrong. I don't think I've heard the latter being said by an American. Yes, many Americans don't have enough faith in their government, but not the way you state. They just don't think government can do anything right, so less government the better. Perhaps that's what you meant?

Incorrect, your mistake is that you think they are mutually exclusive. You can point out the flaws of the USA and care about deaths of innocents simultaneously.

Where do you get the idea that the US is the only country where there are mass killings by gunmen?

Actually read the link...
http://www.theonion.com/articles/no-way-to-prevent-this-says-only-nation-where-this,36131/

At press time, residents of the only economically advanced nation in the world where roughly two mass shootings have occurred every month for the past five years were referring to themselves and their situation as “helpless.”
