HI,
For those of you who work in Korea, do you know anything about apartments? I'm an ESL teacher and my apartment rent is paid by my director. Now, how many times can a director ask you to change apartment or apartment location? Nothing is mentioned in my contract except that I'll get a bachelor with furnishings.
Is there a law about this? I've changed location and apartment now 2 times for good reasons. If my director wants me to leave and live somewhere else or another room, but I want to stay in my current apartment, what can I do to stay?
What can a tenant like an expat like me do for this?
Thanks,
C. |

They are paying for it thus have complete control over your living arrangements. |

I'm curious what were the reasons you moved prior to this and why are you moving this time?
Provide us a bit more information. |

Just roll with it unless the next place winds up being a real dump. |

You can ask to take housing allowance instead of having your rent paid for you (if they're trying to move you they can't argue that it breaks a lease etc). You could then try and rent your apartment yourself, although you would probably need key money.
If it were me, I would speak to the director in advance and say that you are really happy in your current accommodation, and if there was to be a further move, you would ask to take housing allowance instead. That might discourage them from moving you again, and would certainly give them enough notice of your intentions. |
