Couple of Oz Rock hangover songs: (both by Cold Chisel)

Cheap Wine: http://youtu.be/SUGlWCCVA4M

Breakfast at Sweethearts: http://youtu.be/daKpauTL8oA

The song-writer Don Walker was quite a hell-raiser as was Bernie Taupin.

Someone saved my life tonight: http://youtu.be/Gzn2_8i26ys

Goodbye Yellowbrick road: http://youtu.be/DDOL7iY8kfo

Songs like these get written after 6 straight days of partying, like Keith Moon once did. (that's 144 hours without sleep and partying)

Laughing

Those that produced "Hangover" would be the 1st to admit this I bet and I think this is the key thing..

It is not about the song at all but rather the video.
I would say then it is wrong to bash the song.

Same with Gangnam Style.
Something with a catchy word or line.
Throw in a very well made, wacky, heavily budgeted video which is cool in its own way.

Lots of youtube hits which is its main aim im sure.

Goal achieved on this.
Doesn't need any comparisons as on this thread.
It is what it is.

The video market is the way forward for some.

Well done Psy..

I'm surprised Snoop did it. He must have been paid a lot of cash upfront to agree to it.

As posted above, it's all about the video.

I'm not sure it puts Korea in a very flattering light though.

Maybe not. Snoop has said that he actually likes KPop as a guilty pleasure so I wouldn't be surprised if he did for the hell of it.

Doubtful. More likely a case of trying to buy some street cred by being seen with Snoop. Psy is a definitely a star now though and I'm sure for the right price, Snoop was not opposed to doing a collaboration. Gangnam style is kind of a weird cult thing now in pop culture land.

As for him "liking" K-pop, it's possible he did say that, most likely during a Korean press interview, plus Snoop is no dummy when it comes to marketing; of course he's not going to come out and say it sucks and offend a bunch of potential customers. Also, liking something as a "guilty pleasure" is pretty much saying it's of low standard anyway.

Didn't click the video link. Not in a masochistic mood right now. Pretty sure it'll be as annoying as his other stuff. I'll pass but I'm sure it'll be unavoidable soon enough.

I think both guys saw a mutually beneficial opportunity and seized it. I'm pretty sure the song was just a promo for Psy's upcoming summer single anyways.

Video was childlishly entertaining.

Snoop made me laugh as he really got into the silliness of it, the "beer goggles" turning the ajummas into young ladies made me laugh.

But, PSY is just disgusting. Sorry, buddy. You were cute at first, but now your personna is just a fat tool who I DO NOT want to see eating noodles any more. He didn't so much as make me smirk.

As for the song: not much better or worse than any Top-40, Katy Perry/Lady Gaga/Beiber, Pop out there.

It'll be popular on Youtube. I predict more than "Gentleman", but less than "Gangnam Style"

Score another point for that "hallyu" crap finally knocking on North America's door.

Actually, he said it on a reddit AMA a few years ago so I doubt he was just faking it. I don't see why it's that inane to think Snoop Dog just has weird tastes in music

Same... I caught a close friend of mine (Gymrat; huge/bulky guy and a devout metalhead) listening to Taylor Swift once... everyone has their guilty pleasures when it comes to music.

Anything is possible. Really doubt he's all THAT into it, especially the dumb girlie stuff or the effeminate cheez... but Psy I could see him liking just for the weirdo factor. Definitely a mutually beneficial team-up though for both, wether he likes him or not.
