I assume you're joshing here. Even by Korean standards wedding buffet food is poor. Low quality meat, lukewarm temperatures, food lying around for hours in tin troughs, bits of one dish mixed up by accident into others. |
I was being serious. The weddings I have attended, all of the food was high class and most of it was being prepared on the spot over open fire.
or hot food was hot out of the oven, pan, stove. and the cold food was..well, cold. I don't drink alcohol, but there was also a free assortment of nice wines, being served. yes, bottles upon bottles of soju, beer, and something else was on each of the tables as well.
I did notice that many of the Koreans were lined up and piling their plates high with crabs, ,raw fish, lobsters,shrimp at the seafood buffet section,
as opposed to the other 70 or so dishes being offered. I opted for the International Buffet section and ate tacos, burritos, steak, and chocolate dipped strawberries.
That will always be one one of my favorite early memories of Korea because I was feeling a little homesick back then, and tumbled upon some recognizable and familiar food items. |

Youve just described the exact opposite of the 5 k-weddings Ive been too. |

This is the exception rather than the rule. All your friends must be "elites."
I like the sitdown weddings at hotels better than the buffets. Steak and sometimes a lobster tail with it and plenty of fairly decent red wine. |
