In the US, if you have a Body Mass Index of less than about 75, you have to be at least moderately attractive ....

I can tell the difference between a fake and real compliment about looks here.

1/ when teenage girls giggle and say it in Korean to each other thinking I dont understand.
2/ when handsome follows some sort of sound such as 'ooohh'.
3 / when i get stared at and i smile - they smile back ( i take that as a compliment).
4/ when the compliment is not handsome but something like 'your face is very nice'.

But yes, i punish boys for this - and usually tell them its a bit gay. Girls, i tell them they are very pretty too and then they either realise im just giving an empty compliment or are so caught up in the attention their own ego takes over - either way, they stop.

But as for OP, Id say I get a lot more attention back home.

You could also re word your question and ask 'do western girls pay any attention to you in korea?'. ' or do you usually have to pick up the fuglies?'.

The words of a man who indulges in enormous amounts of self-pleasuring. Those with such a high opinion of themselves are typically deluded, and your comment about punishing boys just shows you to be an utter *beep*.

Not bad for one post.... congrats!

Wind-ups always end up this way because in an anonymous forum, nobody cares about them. All people care about is getting out their frustration. Wind-ups work better face to face.

I'm pretty much certain that OP was just having a laugh, but that doesn't mean that it isn't an interesting topic to talk about.

No, Im not deluded - I am attractive. I don't care one way or the other personally, it doesn't make any difference to me on a daily basis.

However... im not stupid enough to think that looks dont get you a long way in life - especially here. Im into my 40's now, if I wasn't good looking, i doubt id have attractive, younger gf or find it so easy to get a job here in sparkling. it also seems to help when the teachers want to parade you about in front of potential customers. Which in turn- secures these otherwise, crappy jobs.

When I was younger, i could use it to get laid a lot with attractive girls. That isn't delusional my friend, its natural selection.

But like I say, i dont personally care, i could be walking around with cheese in my beard all week for how often i look in the mirror - but i would be stupid to not recognise it and not use it as an advantage - and so would everyone else.

And of course I don't punish them you stupid wanker, I was joking. If you read my other posts you may notice a pattern of sarcasm.

Does anyone else get this sensation? When I'm at home, in Korea, people tend to be complimentary and tell me I'm handsome or strong. When I go back to my birth country, people just aren't as honest or forthcoming. The west's lack of sharing really brings me down a bit and I think they shame me to the point where I don't feel as handsome/confident as I should (am).
How does everyone else deal with this? Should I just write off the other hemisphere (seriously considering it)?

ROFL at your fragile ego and allowing Korea to give you false positive feelings.

I have barely stopped laughing at this comedy gold. Of course in Asia, we have NEVER seen middle-aged, unattractive western men get attention, young girlfriends, or advantages in the workplace. You must be the love child of Brad Pitt and George Clooney.... there is NO other explanantion! Very Happy

It's barely any wonder that I didn't detect any sarcasm, given the level of hilarity of your other comments, as above and elsewhere. If you are a character and not real, then I applaud the quality and genius of your writing. If you are real, then..... have a nice day.

There's something a bit sad about bragging your appearance is still getting you entry level jobs teaching English in Korea. It's a bit like a short teenager boasting that he can still get under the hight restriction bar for the kids ride at the funfair.

Yes, I've also been complimented a ton here. Usually some actor named Mr. Bean or Nicholas Cage.
