|
I am looking at some flights home for Christmas. Just noticed that on United you only get one checked bag now! Second bag isn't cheap either, it's $100! I admit it was always kind of special that we got two bags to the US while the rest of the world only got one bag, but are those good days over?
Anyone had experienced with other airlines and getting one or two checked bags from Korea to the US?
Thanks, |

Fly Delta, they still allow two bags. I also hear (and please correct me if I'm wrong) that United has no TV screens per passenger seat, whereas Delta does. Delta is also very customer friendly, especially in the event of a family emergency or death. |

Singapore Air (flies to SFO from ICN) has a 2 checked bag allowance. United has become super cheapskate.

Depends on the airplane. On the 4 United transpacific flights I've been on in the past year, all of my flights had personal tvs with on-demand video. I've only been on 777s though, I think some of the other planes are still "old-fashioned". |

I also recommend Delta, although they're probably pricier than United. The in-flight entertainment systems, tho, definitely make it worth it on those long-haul flights.
I could be wrong, tho, but I thought Delta only allowed 1 checked bag trans-pacific, 2 if you have a Skymiles AMEX card (I do, but of course not everyone does). But I may be mis-remembering, it's been almost a year since my last flight with them. |

Asiana too. Hell, I think all the Asian non-budget carriers allow up to two bags. |

Didn't Asiana just get a ban for flying into the US? |

My last trip to the U.S. was in April, and then, I was allowed two checked bags for my Delta flight, though I just had one. Maybe it has changed since then. |

Small sidetrack from the US discussion, sorry, but a comment on trans-Pacific luggage allowances.
I just bought a ticket to Vancouver in a couple weeks. I miss the old Singapore Air nonstop flights, but Air Canada is serviceable, which has no fee for two carry-ons plus two checked bags (up to 50 lbs/23 kg each).
But I only ever travel with just one small carry-on. Me plus my bag will add up to about 70 kg. I'd really like to see incentives (discounts) for light flyers. As if. Meanwhile, I'm paying a lot for other people's bulk. |
