I guess it works for some men. Here's a documentary about men who have found happiness with dolls:
Guys and Dolls.

$1500 is a lot less that you'd spend on a real woman.

In addition to not talking back, If I ask the doll is she wants to have sex she wouldn't give me the same answer my wife gives me every time. "UHH fine, (looks at the clock) can you hurry up I want to watch my show in 10 minutes."

I smile and say, "I only need 3-4 minutes babe!"

"But in Japan, the worry is about a libido crisis. The birthrate is falling fast. By 2060, the population is expected to go down by a third, and, by 2100, if trends continue, by 61 percent....

"Takuro writes a lament for the men in love with '2D female characters from anime and manga.' He expressed, in the Asahi Shimbun, 'I want to tell them that human women are also great fun!' Technology, of course, gets blame: virtual worlds, not to mention porn."

I wouldn't be surprised if such dolls also contribute to Japan's plunging birth rate. And the problem may get worse as the technology improves and dolls become more lifelike.

I'm sure Japan will find a way to impregnate dolls.
