Wait, is all this fuss because people from Africa have ebola, and Koreans don't want to have ebola, so they don't want Africans coming here?

Because that seems rational.

You are not only evidently devoid of the ability to think critically, but you have an unfortunate tendency to offer opinions on topics you not only know nothing about, but are apparently content to know nothing about.

Have you any idea how frickin' big Africa is? Are you aware that the ebola virus is largely restricted to a small area in West Africa? And 99.9999% of Africans have not come into contact with it, nor are they likely to. It's like if ebola had broken out in a region of Uzbekistan and a British pub banned "all Asians" from entering its establishment. The JR Pub rule, and the reactions of the Korean customers, was that stupid. But no stupider than your post, I must add.

True. I am aware of the things I don't know, as opposed to most people who think they know things they don't. It was clearly disclosed that I know nothing about this topic and thus seek clarification...

Thank you dearest Smithington for the clarification. From this additional data I can say the Korean's view is still logical. They are not able to determine visually specific African country of origin. But being a homogenous culture they are able to spot the black people, and ban them. Though they ban 99.9999% incorrectly, they still nail the 0.0001%. They miss the white Africans. Thus they offend, but don't get ebola, or at least they reduce the odds. Getting ebola doesn't sound like a desirable result.

Their actions make sense.

Again, your ignorance is astonishing. A homogenous culture? Do all Asians share a homogenous culture? All Europeans? And what has 'culture' got to do with a virus? And "banning the black people"? Really. I thought we were banning "Africans". Now it's black people, many millions of whom do not live in Africa. Is JR's banning North African Arabs, who are much closer to the infected zone than southern African blacks?

Again, your posts on this matter reveal a great deal about you. And they aren't doing you any favors.

You guys are just wound up on your "but racism bla bla", that's all Westerners talk about. But you missed the basic math, Koreans got the math right.

I'm guessing he's a teenager who wants to have something to say, but hasn't anything intelligent or insightful to say, but posts anyway. I'm guessing he's 17 years old. Noone any older than that can post the mindless dribble he posts.

Best ignored.

I had to read that post three times, just to understand it.

At least Steelrails posts are coherent.

It's too bad, I used to like your posts. But then you got all emotional with your racist crap...blinded by hate. Basically you pooped on all your good posts, with a few bad ones. Now they are all stained with poop.

So sad. TT

As I say, you sound like an immature teenager...and one obsessed with poop jokes, to boot. Confused

Mods, don't you need to be 18 to post on these forums?

While I may object to the characterization of JR Pub representing Koreans, I completely agree that any ban against Africans is ridiculous and illogical and there is no justification for it.

Westerners can't do math though, it does reduce the probability of catching some ebola.

Maybe more than 0.0001% of people have HIV, so the "logical" thing to do is to stop all human contact now! It makes sense.
You'll ban 99.9999% incorrectly, but still nail the 0.0001%!
It's just "basic math", people! But you dumb "Westerners" can't do that stuff.

Anyway, while a random bar banning random black Africans is not much of a "logical" solution to the Ebola issue, it does raise issues about how to really tackle the problem.

The fact is, the virus DOES originate from Africa. For now, it's largely restricted to just a few small countries... but who knows how long that will last. But you've also got international travelers (including Koreans) mixing in airports all over the world.

Remember the swine flu scare here a few years ago? At first they panicked and viewed it as a "foreigner" disease, but as soon as their kids all started getting it it was a different matter. They were not able to stop the containment/spread, so what does that mean regarding ebola?

Doesn't make any sense at all.

And then you go on to say that it comes from Africa, but how do we confine it?? Uhhh...
