|
|
I will be doing some volunteer work in a few third world countries this summer. The Visa requires proof of Malaria Vaccination, prior to approval. Can someone please guide me in locating one or two. I called the International Hotline but they said the number was disconnected.
I went to a hospital in my town but they didn't have it. They said "SEOUL. Go big hospital, please"
I want the injection and also the pills. Short on time. |

It depends on where you are going.
Different countries = different strains.
Different strains = different prophylaxis.
Different countries = different requirements.

Never heard of a SE Asian or African country with malarial vaccination as a visa requirement though (and I have been to a lot of them). Didn't need it for India or Sri Lanka either.
If you are going to central Africa, India, west Asia or SE Asia in at "AT RISK AREA" then a daily dose of Doxy is usually sufficient and still on the recommended list by the CDC.

I'M GONG TO BE IN A MOSQUITO INFESTED VILLAGE AREA OF GHANA, UGANDA, AND ANOTHER PLACE WITH HIGH INCIDENCE OF MALARIA.
TRIP DIRECTOR SAID TO BRING PROOF OF VACCINATION CERTIFICATE TO EMBASSY.

Hey, thanks for the info. I said the same thing when it was first announced at the meeting because I have travelled to many, many countries, without it.
But after you made your post, I got curious and decided to search it out
I lifted this info straight off of the GHANA VISA REQUIREMENTS, page.
Medical Requirements for visiting Ghana!
New York: Applications submitted in New York require an international certificate of vaccination against Yellow Fever.
As the team leader is from New York, I think this is why he told the team this. But I don't this applies to me, because I'm applying from Korea/ |

Yes..."yellow fever" is quite something else.
You may have had yellow fever which is what drove you to come to Korea in the first place. Bad Joke! Sorry |
