I hear the airport in San Vincente, Palawan, will be completed this year (but in the Phils, no sense of urgency and oftentimes, things are delayed over and over), and that would really open up Palawan. Boracay is great and I've been there many times, but El Nido is rated the top beach area in the Phils. The problem is, getting to El Nido is such a pain, either by chartered plane that costs $300 per head RT or flying into Puerto Princesa and then taking a bus for 6-8 hours.
If the airport in San Vicente is opened, that would really jump-start Palawan tourism, with Port Barton and San Vincente, with its 14km-long white beach, being right there, and El Nido being a 1.5-hour drive away.
As for Korean tourists, yes, they can be testy and I can't stand them but Koreans aren't the worst tourists in the world or the Phils -- the Arabs, Chinese and Indians have wrested that title away. |
