True. I don't get the face changing obsession though. They could just get bubble boob implants so big that nobody would ever look at their face again. |

The most successful girl group of all time, the Spice girls, succeeded partly because they clearly defined the different characters in the group, something The Korean pop industry needs to work on a bit more. It's not really enough just to have them get the double eyelid/nose combo and dye their hair a different colour. Nowadays with the advancement of plastic surgery they should literally mould each group member to suit the diversity in male taste. There would obviously be the big boob one, then there would be one with a J Lo butt for the ass lovers and one with the japanese anime eyes for the 'cute face' brigade. They could even have one with tatoos and horn implants or something for the weirdo demographic. |

Obviously I can't speak for every Korean woman, but I would say that although Korea is not Cambodia or Thailand, many Korean women, from what I've seen, date foreign men (ie western white speaking males) along the same lines. It isn't as in your face as a woman from the phillipines marrying a 65 year old from Britain but many Korean women date foreign men because of
a) English
b) Their kids will speak English
c) They can get permanent residence in Canada, US or whatever. Yeah those countries have issues too, but Koreans tend to have false perception on how grand it is to live in Canada. Trust me I know.
d) They aren't going to be getting the K-guy making 6 million plus a month at a Chaebol. They know this as Korea tis pretty brutal and upfront about your prospects from a young age. Especially if you're a woman and these women, according to K-standards, neither have the looks or family connections to marry up or into a family that will afford them a lifestyle that isn't slaving all day for a man and the in-laws. They perceive (and sometimes incorrectly) that marrying Scott from Grand Prairie Alberta, is a get out of jail free card.
e) Kind of already said it in d) but they can shake the yoke of Korean expectations on women.
Korean women aren't stupid. It's just a lot of guys that marry them don't want to be considered in the same category as the fat and bald 55 year old loser that went to the Philippines and "bought" more or less a 23 year old wife. It isn't quite the same but it runs along the same lines. You went to Asia and imported a wife that wants to get the hell out of her country and go to a rich nation, or at least reap the benefits of a passport from that country for herself and her children. Western men, sorry western WHITE men consciously or unconsciously take advantage of this situation. But hey if the 2 are happy in the end and get what they want, who am I to judge? Let's just not call it something that it isn't.
You think she'd marry you if you were a fluent English speaking Belorussian from Minsk? Sure. |
