Name of the poll says it all, which is your most preferred option of the options above?

It is unrealistic to limit yourself, but in the confines of your question, if it is Walmart or the unemployment line, I'd take Korea.

At least with Walmart you can apply for food stamps like the CEO suggested.

Lifer.
Now Costco? I'd go for that.
Wal-marts just got too many freaks to spend 8hrs a day there. Or 12-14

How about other choices:

Work in Korea, knock out all your student debt, travel, then begin career in home country

Work in Korea while knocking out MA and whittling down debt, then transition back to home country

Work in Korea, work in Japan, work in a China, work in the ME, then retire at 50 to an island in SE Asia

Work in Home Country building a career while obtaining a Ph.D

Pretty sure that first option would fall under category 1: Being a lifer

Option 2? Not a bad plan if you don't mind doing the poor college student thing. That gets old. In the end, though, if you do get through a program with an employable major, graduate, pay your dues (few people land premo jobs for their first tenure track gigs), and stick it out, you might be able to make a go of it in academe.

Stats are scary, though; only about 30% of Ph.D.s will ever hold tenure track gigs.
