I have to agree that it's mighty strange for someone to have such a bad experience, basically being held prisoner by the hospital, and want to return to the scene of the crime, so to speak.

If he's so deadset on teaching overseas, there are other places besides SK.

This is no surprise. Its ALWAYS been this way.
The heiarchy recruiters go by in terms of preference are:

1. white female
2. white male
3. black female
4. black male.

There are tons of other factors that place you inbetween these groups. Age, attracitveness which includes size, other (non black or white): latino, indian, etc.,
Overall though, black male is the lowest on the totem pole. This has been an open secret for years.

The only area of employment that is fairer are universities. If you are superiorly qualified, they take you first no matter what you look like..for the most part. Although due to so many males in unis, females are highly sought these days for the sake of balance.

This may explain why every university 'professor' I've ever met in Korea, look like an extra from the Hobbit.
