I agree with the OP. The whole freedom of speech thing is way over rated.
/sarcasm
Seriously, violation of possible noise abatement laws being violated by using a loudspeaker not withstanding I see absolutely nothing wrong with a person standing on a corner and voicing their opinion.
The OP has made an extremely ignorant and or prejudiced post.
Regarding the little girl in the video, she too has a right to free speech, but "shut up" is not an intelligent rebuttal. Ironically it seems that is the one the OP is prone to. |

I don't think anyone is against free speech. But there is a time and place for everything. |

Why do you say that about the above poster? You're the second or third person to allege something like that against Lucas. What are you basing that claim on? Do you know each other? |

If you or others determine the time and place then it's not really free is it? |

Well, in the US, which is where I assume this video took place, the government can regulate the time, place, and manner of speech, as long as its regulation is content-neutral. This means you can't just hold a rally in the middle of the street during rush hour while blasting 150db music, whether you are promoting world peace or commie-nazi hate.
As far as in this video and "sidewalk preachers", the Supreme Court had a case this year (McCullen v. Coakley) that made special note of the sidewalk/"public green" and its history of being a forum for the free exchange of ideas and political thought. As I said in an earlier post, if people are allowed to climb onto a soapbox and preach about human rights, abolishing slavery, granting women the right to vote, fighting nuclear war, and so on, then they should have the right to preach their message. And the sidewalk or public green has been an essential historical location for the advancement of some of our most fundamental rights. Shutting down the preacher means shutting them down as well. A poor choice. |

It's because he has written some quite disgusting things (of a sexual nature) about children and vulnerable women on this forum. He gives off a very creepy vibe. People have picked up on it. |
