Yeah, I don't use IE and the actual process of going through the website and trying to get the PCCC looks like a real pain in the nutsack. Not sure why Jake_Kim said a passport number can be used in place of a PCCC, unless he meant only temporarily. |
The Cosmic Hum beat me to it, but perhaps I should clarify on the technicality as well by copying and pasting my own reply to an earlier, different thread about iHerb. (http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?p=2977548&highlight=#2977548)

I'm ordering from Iherb for the first time and it's asking me for my passport info. It wants it in this format: FAA000000000(F+Country code+passport number)
Anyone know exactly what this means? Is the country code the same 2 digit number for phones calls-82? What does the F stand for, anything? It also gives 9-zeros for the passport number, but I only have 8 characters for my passport, maybe it's different for other countries?
Would really like to make this order asap. Any help is apprectiated.
Thanks. |
The 'Country code' in this context is the ISO 2-letter code (ISO 3166-1 alpha-2), which is in fact the international standard, not some set unique only to the Korea Customs. Thus US for the United States or CA for Canada is indeed correct, so is GB for the United Kingdom, AU for Australia, DE for Germany, and so forth.
(The use of ISO Codes is explicitly stated by the Customs on their manual in Korean)

So, it could have been misleading as if passport number in its raw format works when I had stated that you can put in your passport number, which is nevertheless still true. I just should've added a comment about the required formatting as well. Sorry about that.
I got the instruction above directly off of the Korea Customs' manual, so it's legit until they decide to change it up all over again some time in the future. Try the 'F+Country code+passport number' format, it should work. |
I used the long distance calling code for the country code since I didn't see any other instructions. I wonder how that's going to work out once it hits customs. |

I almost did that too. Save for Jake's info in the other thread that he has now posted here, too. I read that other thread and was curious why I wasn't being subjected to the new system.
Actually, I wasn't too concerned at the time, as I make a lot of orders and they didn't send me that email....until yesterday that is. So the other day, I had my order ready, proceeded to checkout, and that new screen appeared saying where is my new number?....fack!!!
Had to do a bit of a search...not really...but it could have been - the search engine here works in mysterious ways.
Perhaps an iherb sticky?
Keeping this kind of information under one umbrella could be quite useful. |
