I get servisa quite a bit.
It all depends on your attitude, if you are polite and speak some Korean they are usually so taken aback that i will more often than not get a discount (do other waygook Korean-speakers experience this???) and/or special service.
Maybe its just because i live in the sticks and not in Seoul/Busan and they are just so used to foreigners that you don't get special treatment anymore.
I'm like homer, I get lots of discounts due to attitude and friendliness.
Also, I've never been ripped off as far as I know so i'm way ahead. |

Being the only foreigner in the village does have its advantage..lots of freebees from the local stores
I've convinced all the bar owners that it is a "western" custom only to buy beer at the bar and not to order a side dish. Now, thay all give me the side dishes for free.
The hard part is listening to my Korean friends say that they would like to do the same, but cannot...apparently losing face has a higher prioity |
