$1000.00
Guess it's not that much of a sticker shock though, considering the price of everything else these days. |

Yeah...and is it worth it? I have my suspicions that it might be.
The other system I was looking at is this
Marantz
PM6005 Integrated Amplifier - $699
CD6005Hi-Fi Compact Disc Player -$499
Bit more money but with individual components.
I have read good reviews on them, but if anyone here has first-hand knowledge, please feel free to share.
Of course it would be nice to go up to the PM7005 or PM8005 but not sure if the price increase is warranted...again...I suspect it is but, feedback would help.

If you're looking for a CD player, I would also recommend this:

I like Marantz products though so I don't think you can go wrong with them. I have the SR7005 for my home theater and it is awesome. But if I were buying a CD player I would probably get the Emotiva. I haven't checked if they are available in Korea. Many Marantz products are so maybe that's the better bet.
In fact, the Marantz receiver I bought was $300 cheaper than in the US. |

The Sony seems to be really good. I like the interface a lot, and the fact that it has an internal HDD so I don't have to stream over the network. Too bad it is not available in Korea. They all seemed to be shipped from overseas, and I would need a step-down transformer which I don't like using with high-end audio equipment. Also, too bad they don't make one without a built-in amp, since I want to hook it up to my home theater.
I've been looking at the Pioneer N-50, which is available here for around 880,000.

AFAIK, this is the only home player available for under $1000. Unfortunately, it has no internal HDD but according to the manual, you can hook up a USB drive on the front. I need to do some more reading on this unit though.
EDIT: looks like there is a new version, the N-50A:

ahh...this is a very good point.
I don't want to use a transformer either.
Products available in Korea is a must.
Thanks for pointing that out.
And thanks for the information so far SD...you're giving some great feedback on this subject. |
