I had plans to buy an 11-seat Hyundai Starex and was told I need a special commercial license. I'm guessing it's the equivalent of a chauffeur's license.

Has anyone here ever taken the test? Is it available in English? What is the driving test like? Is there a company that offers classes in English?

Does it have more than 2 axles? Should be a basic licence.

If you are ferrying around people, then you probably need the equivalent of a taxi licence.

'Commercial'? That doesn't sound right, unless you plan to drive a taxi van.
You do need a Class 1 license to drive a 11-seat vehicle, however.

I did it 2 years ago. If you have had your normal Korean license for 5 or 7 (sorry can't remember which but think it was 7) years, it is just a switch (no test necessary).
I did the test. Sit through a twenty minute safety video with all of the teenagers doing their tests. It is all in Korean.
After that you go for the road test... You will have to memorize the course. The testing officer does not talk to you. At my place in Incheon there were 2 courses so you had to memorize both routes. 2 at a time in the bongo truck. You drive your course, the other person drives theirs, and back to the center...
again...no English.
