Time served.

Four Western tourists, including two Canadians, who were charged after posting naked on a Malaysian mountaintop, were sentenced today to three days in prison, but won't have to serve any more time behind bars.

In another case a Saudi man who questioned Islam on social media has been sentenced to a thousand lashes (think about that) and a decade in prison. His wife and children have received refugee status in Canada.
Islam, all religion is wacky, but you are undoubtedly the wackist. (Sorry Scientology, maybe next year.) |
Saudi Arabia is not every Muslim country. |

On balance, Islam is a civilizing influence on the Middle East and the northern half of Africa.
One cannot say the same for the US government, which destabilizes every Middle Eastern nation in which it meddles. |

| In regards to the specific case discussed on this thread, it seems that Islam isn't even the real culprit(to the extent that there is one beyond the stupidity of some tourists). Muslims generally don't believe in nature spirits, and the reports said that the local beliefs were mostly a mixture of Christian and animist. |

What? I said 'Islam is a civilizing influence on the Middle East,' and 'the US gov't destabilizes every ME country in which it meddles.' Your response is effectively a non-sequitor. I wouldn't deny that the Middle East has a tumultuous history.
Let me guess, you are American?

You are mistaking my response with a pro-American rhetoric. No, it is more of what I think of islam.
Your comment is akin to a honey wagon coming and emptying a septic tank and saying it doesn't stink anymore.

That sufficiently answers my question - you are American.
Does what you think of Islam really matter? I mean, have you traveled to the Middle East, studied Islam or Middle Eastern history in any serious way, or do you have any contact with Muslims in the States?
Because in America its okay to be bigoted against Islam. It will get you in little trouble anywhere there, its even tolerated in some leftist forums (Bill Maher). And yet Americans know nothing about Islam, in most cases.
Obviously, I cannot go any further in depth because the ToS prevents me from DEFENDING ISLAM, apparently. But I can attack your ignorance.

To recap what my position is, in a way that is easy to understand.
1) Islam helps the Middle East.
2) US harms the Middle East.
3) Middle East = x |

It is only 'ignorance' to you because I disagree with your opinion.
To answer your questions, no, I have not met many muslims. A few, not many. I have never studied it and I have never nor will ever visit a muslim country, for fear of my own safety.
And Islam has done little to endear themselves to the rest of the world. You will find people that hate them anywhere in the world. But the biggest haters of muslims are other muslims. Otherwise, they wouldn't kill each other so much.
But anyways, attack my 'ignorance.'

| At least you're honest. As I said before, I have to attack your foundation for your opinion because the ToS, apparently, prohibits me from attacking your argument on the merits. |

It's an outrage they had to spend any time behind bars at all. Look at the baneful influence our appeasement of that new Hitler Putin is causing around the world. First *beep* Riot and now this? Remember Munich! |
