One of those ubiquitous TV guys who made the occassional foray into movies.

Don't think I saw him in much, besides Eight Is Enough, Freaky Friday, and High Anxiety, the Mel Brooks Hitchcock spoof. The latter is underrated in my view, and I noticed that it lost out to things like Spaceballs in the obits.
I also recall seeing him on an infommerical that I only watched for about thirty seconds.

Man, they're dropping like flies. It seems every week there's someone famous from the 70's or 80's passing on. I guess it's that demographic.
About Eight is Enough, if my memory doesn't fail me the older daughter used to be married to John Travolta but she died in an accident or a disease many years ago. I'll have to double-check that.
edit: Travolta dated the 'mother' in the first four episodes before she died of cancer in 1977. Travolta was eighteen years her junior. |

Travolta dated women just to keep up appearances. He's gay. |

Yeah, he be the man. I've always thought he was a terrific actor, charming and charasmatic. And what a bounce back into the limelight in the 1990's after his long exile for being associated with disco.
Couple weeks ago I watched 'Get Shorty" again. What a blast.
He lost his son to some disease a few years ago.

Not that Electric Company itself was a star-studded extravaganza, but he at least got a decent amount of exposure out of it. |
