Arirang news just reported that Korea will have the hottest weather in 10 years. Please remember to drink extra bottled water. Have some good fruit and vegetables, and be careful exercising outside.

We cannot all live on a tropical island and have women feed us mangos.

How hot are we talking about here? I don't mean to burst any bubbles but it's already reached 90 degrees F here in central Texas and it ain't no dry heat either . . . Swampass weather. Personally I was hoping for a break from the heat in South Korea. Oh well.

FYI, that appears to not be how it goes. The Earth tends to heat up a bit before an ice age, so if one is around the corner, the global climate will get hotter and hotter until about 10 years before the ice age, and then global temperatures will drop drastically until it sets in.

http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0130-11.htm

If you ignore the last three paragraphs, which seem to be entirely opinion (even if I agree with that opinion, it's still just that), the research seems to indicate that the things we're seeing are actually a precursor to an ice age and not a "heat death". Also, if you really look at what the facts in the article are saying, the rising temperatures are an oceanic phenomenon which may or may not be significantly affected by human activity.

I did some more digging, and some models show that an ice age should be in full swing about 25 years from now. So, after you all enjoy your 60 degree winter vacations in Alaska, get ready for parkas to be "the new black." This probably won't be an extiction-level event, but the Earth is actually due for one sometime in the near future.

http://mitosyfraudes.8k.com/Calen/Landscheidt-1.html -- talks about the effects of the solar changes on Earth's climate

http://www.clearlight.com/~mhieb/WVFossils/ice_ages.html -- talks about ice ages (has an interesting section about how in the 40s environmentalists were screaming that human actions were going to causing an ice age). It also notes that human contribution to greenhouse gasses are approximately 0.2% - 0.3% of the total amount.

Actually, when I started reading this thread, I was an environmentalist. I still to an extent am and support the controlling of greenhouse gasses and waste dumping, but I'm going to say that after the reading I've done today I'm starting to suspect that saying that what we're doing is causing global warming is like saying that smog is responsible for solar eclipses.

Sorry this went so far off topic. I actually only meant to point out an article that showed that we're headed for an ice age and not overwhelming heat and ended up getting interested in the subject and doing some research.
