| A few days ago I noticed an old banana on my counter that had fruit flies on it. They are so small. I never really knew what they looked like. So, I looked at them with a very powerful magnifying glass. They look just like real flies, but are so small and cute. The way they run around on the fruit looked like they were playing games, dancing (somtimes ballet). So yesterday I put the banana in a plastic bag and after they all were inside, I closed it fast. Went to a tree about 100 feet from my place and dumped them and the banana safely under the tree. I miss them so much, especially Jeff. |

I can relate to the OP.
I've got a spider friend (though I havent named her) living in my potted pineapple plant. Her web was starting to distort its new fronds so I gently disengaged some strands with a twig where it was causing problems, much to her annoyance, but I think she forgives me. We have an understanding.
She still caught a dragonfly for lunch today. |

And time really flies for fruit flies. I went to visit and Jeff was there. A few days ago he was single. Now he is married, has 3 kids and two grand kids.  |

I've always had pretty good reflexes but fruit flies are damn hard to squash. I managed to get one buzzing around my 7/11 table today though...
I hope it wasn't Jeff.... |

Fruit flies are our friends, but they still won't drive you to the airport and they seem to always say "oops, forgot my wallet at home" when you're out with them.
Reminds me of some humans I know, particularly a subsection that will remain unnamed as I'm very PC . |

That's a relief. Jeff sounds like one of the "good ones" and I'd hate to know I was responsible for his untimely demise.

Well, you see, the thing is that some fruit flies are Mormon. That is the case with Jeff. He has 103 wives now, and with his sons, and grand sons also being of the same faith, it is just to hard to keep up. That is why you can leave a banana out and in a few days there are many generations at the feast, and generations that had their start at the feast. But Jeff now is very old, so he sends me an email every day. When he misses a day, I know he is gone.  |
