I think you'll find a lot more males than females visit Daves. Its kind of like a dark old bar with with the guys talking shit & an occasional wide-eyed newb dropping by to hack a bit of advice. Skewed demographic here. Interesting question though & I'd be curious to know too. Anyone got any real stats?

I didn't think of that...consider me the wide eyed newbie, haha.
Although maybe you would be able to advise me, from your experience being in Korea. Are there generally more female or male esl teachers? Or somewhat equal? |

8.5:1.5 is likely an accurate ratio, plus or minus 10%, of course! |

I agree with schwa. I categorized it on the "This forum is dying!" thread as a saloon full of old gunslingers who do not have much different to say unless someone new wanders in through the swinging doors. Anyway, as for the body count on the peninsula, I would say more and more females arriving, but still not yet equilibrium. |

It's also boring as *beep* here nowdays, IMO.
The same old group of 5-10 old men in the 40s or 50s (often married and/or stuck here in the ESL cafe/country for some reason like internet addiction, boredom, etc.) sitting around bored waiting for the latest 'red meat' to wonder in so they can type out the same spiel they've been blathering on about since '97 or '05. |

I agree with the assessment of swashbuckler, too. Well put. That said, I checked on demographic data drawn from immigration statistics for E-2 visas current to 2014 and found some good news for ruwen: there are more female than male South African teachers in the ROK. Even better: from China, nearly 90% are female. In sum, there are roughly 1,000 more males than females among the total number of E-2 visa holders. The percentage of female E-2 visa holders has increased over a 15 year span, from 33% in 1999 to 45% last year. |

There probably are more males than females teaching in South Korea. I can definitely say it was a woman who warned me on Dave's ESL Café against Chungdahm Learning. So there are definitely some woman on this forum. What I will say is that there were quite a lot of women teaching in the town where I taught public school, and someone said to me that they got more social attention than the guys did. But in that town they were starting from a very low base. |

From experience, I would say he is probably trying to run away from SA women rather than run towards more of them. |
