I want to get hired at a public school as soon as possible -- I guess that means January. There is a recruiter posting for a January start date, but I would prefer to go direct with the school district. Can someone steer me? I have CBC in hand. Preferably Busan, second choice Seoul.
Thanks. |

I'm pretty sure you can't apply directly to public schools. You need to go through a government sponsored program, such as EPIK, GEPIK, or SMOE.
It's also a pretty long process. Apart from having your background check and [copy of] diploma with the apostille, and 2 transcripts, you also need to have two letters of reference, and must fill out a loooooooong application. Which includes 3 essays and a lesson plan that you need to fill out.
But I'm pretty sure you can't apply directly. A lot of public schools don't have many foreign teachers (you may end up being the only one), so there may not be Koreans with great English ability, and nobody to guide you through the process of paperwork and getting to Korea. That's why they use these programs, so that's all done for them. |
