Rep. Han Jeonge-ae proposed bill last week to ban discriminatory practices

in hiring.

Many companies require job applicants to divulge parents occupations ,rank,
and income levels.

Photos, height, weight, marital status are also routinely asked.

Do you think this will spill over onto the teachers , as well?

A similar bill was proposed by former lawmaker ,Chung Ok-im ,a few years ago.

It was quickly voted down.

Do you this will ever happen in Korea? Why or why not?

They might as well scrap the pics as all the ones submitted are photo shopped out the ying yang. There'll probablyl still be preference given to the good looking in the end anyway.

In 2015, can't you figure all this stuff out anyway without it being included on the resume? Five minutes of googling regarding a candidate I might be interested usually tells me a lot, and if I can't find any online presence whatsoever, I generally assume that they're a serial killer and don't call them.

Usually because the ones doing the hiring want to give more than just preferences to those with cute butts.

Assume makes an azz out of you and me....

I know of hundreds of people who don't play that game...social media...
so why assume because someone has no info on the net...they are bad...
hell...all the criminals are on the net has it is.
Many people just value their privacy and have other constructive things to do...
I also know employers who google potential candidates and if they find even good info on the net...they don't contact them...
