cashing a check in Korea

Does anyone know if it's possible to cash a check made out to me?

If you still have an account in the USA, a lot of the banks have image-based deposits (BofA does). You take a picture of the check and upload it and they deposit the money then you tear up the check.
Other than that, I heard some US Army people talk about depositing checks on base. On the chance you might have an Army friend who could cash it.

I would love to hear if anyone ever took a personal check to a Korean bank. May get your money in a few months less all kind of fees.

Either do this or mail the thing to your bank.

The banks on the bases do not cash "third party" checks (meaning that a check has been made out to someone not the account holder and then "endorsed" over to the account holder).

Yes, you can -- it will take about 3 weeks for it to get credited, but assuming you have a Korean account, they can/will cash an American (Canadian??) check once it clears from the other side and credit your account with the amount (at current exchange rates and minus a small commission)
