America's Finest probably.
But not necessarily.
There are lots of Nigerians who hang out in Itaewon.
Question is: The Korean Cop was on his radio calling for help.
The MPs would no doubt be called as well since that K Cop probably assumed they were soldiers.
Would the American MP have the right to automatically pounce on these black guys because they assume them to US soldiers?
Or can only the Korean cops physically touch them?
Dicey issue if the black guys are not USFK. |

It's true, you have a majority of American soldiers and actually I think they are more likely to get into brawls with each other. But I have plenty of experience with British teachers in Thailand, which are in the majority, not at all an example of the finest. I think I've posted some of the incidents either here or in the International Forum. It took a stint in Saudi Arabia with British teachers to completely regain my respect, seriously. |

Booze + Late Night + Sexual Competition and there's a fight. If there are soldiers involved (or not), that's just a part of the situation. |

Above all, merchants point out that there is a big problem of foreigners not taking our police seriously.
<recording> A merchant in the vicinity (voice changed) : "Foreigners are not afraid of the Korean police. Only Koreans fear the Korean police."....
<interview> Lee Oong Hyeok(Konkook University Department of Police Administration professor): "Although the police were present they were not deterred and carried on with the fight. What if we went to a foreign country and the police appeared. I don't think we could ever act like that."
Here foreigners have a sense of entitlement....
With about 2 million foreigners residing in the country at the moment, experts say that in order to prevent foreigner crime which includes this kind of fighting the power of the police needs to be strengthened.
<interview> Lee Oong Hyeok(Konkook University Department of Police Administration professor): "Recently, crime by foreigners has increased considerably.... We need to clearly demonstrate that public authority is alive...." |

That's their own fault for dressing like loser hall monitors. |

At university, some students will practice cheerleading routines for hours and hours and hours, late into the night and early morning, preparing for their sports week festival and cheer-off competition. This late night training requires a lot of motivation - the kind found from drinking copious amounts of soju. All too often, this practice leaves them too exhausted to attend classes, and their academic results often suffer because of it.
What ever will become of such students??? |

I saw that quote and couldn't believe someone had the nerve to type it. I've seen or heard about so many instances of Koreans snubbing the police here, it's ridiculous. Scooters blowing past traffic cops, drunks running breathalyzer checkpoints, offenders blatantly arguing with cops over tickets.
After all, bear in mind the golden rule: It's only illegal if they can catch you. |
