Hope you didnt buy your place in korea. Other than a few select locations the Korean real estate market looks pretty tired when you consider the demographics and how leveraged families are.

That you went so off topic shows u r an apologist who wishes to stop anyone from saying bad stuff about universities . you are a light weight.

Did you get your ma online too?
Anyway how does what you said make a university salary good?

How much debt you got on your rental?

I have an MA from a bricks and mortar uni.

I'm debt free. I owe absolutely nothing. The property is in Korea.

You are giving me financial advise. LMAO Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Dude.

I own property, I'm debt free, I live on half of my teaching income.

there are worse things than that . I would rather be a troll than an inflator and an exaggerator

You base that on online job openings which have been pointed out are actually under the real rates. If you are familiar with the real rates, you shouldn’t really care about the online rates.

No they are the real rates or a major part of them . If the real rates were higher and typical then you would see higher rates- at least occasionally . That you don't shows that the typical rates are lower than you claim. Or that the higher rates and better jobs are less common then you claim

Quote:
Let’s see, it was: 1-2 company classes in the morning 2-3 hours kindergarten, 3 hours after school and say 2 hours of privates or company classes in the evening. That is 8-10 hours of teaching (not including the optional kindy privates and late night shift) and out of the house from 6 AM until 8 PM at the very least. That is a 14 hour long day. All this for 4m? You can see that it doesn’t add up, can’t you? Okay I help 60k business, 80k kindy, 105k early afternoon hagwon that is already 245 for the day and I only used 1 hour of company class and 2 hours of kindy. And it’s still just 5pm. Doing this 20 days a month gets you to 4.9m. You add just one private at 50k for each evening and already at 5.9 million. And it’s still just 7pm. I’m not making this up. It’s all in your quoted post.
Let me know if you need more help with the calculation.

One company two or three hours at a kindy and 2 or three hours at an after school . An hour at a company . It comes to that.

Quote:
So really, what is your point will all this? Trying to steer people away from Korea to protect your lifeline ESL job? That is just sad.

No to throw a light on what the real numbers are .

Judging from you writing…

[quote]How much is 3.5 after all deductions ?

Quote:
So where does that money go between 3.5 and 2.8? You just deducted it so it vanishes? No, it’s there, on the bank account and it pays for things, a lot of things.

300 for housing allowance , 200 for severence 200 for airfare if you use the same scale as hogwons use.

I don’t care about working conditions and salaries at universities. I’ve never worked at one and have no desire to do so. I know people who work there and they are doing alright. Why are you so hung up on the universities? Why do you care? You got yourself fired or what?

I think universities use misleading numbers to make jobs seem more attractive then they are . Is that a good thing?

Quote:
Why should I care? I’m not from the US. In fact, the won gained about 60 percent against my country’s currency over the last 6-7 years. That tells more about the country I call home though but it still makes moving back something to look forward to.

Well it shows what the real salary of the job is .

Quote:
Family of 3 here. We spend 1.8-1.9 a month including our mortgage interest and live reasonably well. On a 3. something university NET salary 1 million would go to savings each month easily. We put away well over that.

You can educate your kids on that? Or how will you? Do you have life insurance ? Things get serious really fast before you know it.

Quote:
You can’t live off of that budget? I believe you. Can others live on that budget? Most certainly can, even less. How much you think the average blue collar worker makes here? Can they support their families? I don’t see many kids begging on the streets so I assume yes. If they can’t live on one income, the wife works too. It’s that simple.
I think you are frustrated because of bad money management skills, a demanding wife and a pretentious upper-middle class lifestyle. Deal with it and try to realize that others do things differently. .

First there is a difference between frugal living and making a huge salary.

But more than that the average blue collar in Korea probably has a huge debt.

Quote:
Korea has one of the highest household debt levels in the world compared with incomes, even surpassing the U.S. before its housing crisis. But like many countries that have loaded up on debt, growth is slowing, raising fears that excess borrowing could be a drag in the years ahead.

http://www.wsj.com/articles/south-koreas-are-on-a-debt-binge-1424920718

And that is inspite of the fact that Koreans have more than a few perks over and above the salaries which they report.

Cubist Pharmaceuticals (CBST) Stock Skyrockets Today on $8.4 Billion
BYTedd CohenFollow | 12/08/14 - 07:57 AM EST|

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Shares of Cubist Pharmaceuticals (CBST) are up 36.01% to $101.14 in pre-market trade after it was reported that Merck & Co. (MRK) agreed to buy the company for $8.4 billion in cash to add products to help fight the growing threat of drug-resistant bacteria, Bloomberg reports.

Merck will begin a $102-a-share tender offer for Cubist, the companies said in a statement today. The price is 37% above Cubist's closing share level on Dec. 5. Including $1.1 billion of net debt, the deal is valued at about $9.5 billion.

Cubist has said it plans to introduce four new drugs by 2020 to combat bacterial infections that are resistant to other treatments because of overuse. The rising threat of drug-resistant bugs has spurred public health authorities to urge companies to invest in new antibiotics, a field drugmakers had largely abandoned to focus on more profitable therapeutic areas such as cancer or hepatitis C, Bloomberg said.

GENO's family is sharing a 2 room villa with his mom-n-law and little brother-in-law. Smelling the frequent kimchi poots is getting to him.

On university salary that would have to be the case. Though one could do extra extra work but universities try to stuff f visas.. But you think that is a good thing.
.that is what makes you an apologist.

I am so glad you made the post because that is what a korean university salary would get you.

Top Cat Hate please check the dates on the trade .. Tis was last year. Actually 2014 And it wasn't 10K (I don't exaggerate like the others on this board.) It was only $6,500 .

You think I would take all the time to forge such a screen? . Or that I could ?
