Hello
I may be moving to Incheon soon. I am in another part of the city now. Previously, my school has provided housing but this one won't. They will help me look though.II am wondering what people think is a realistic amount to pay in Incehon (school is near Ganseok station). I would be willing to live in another area if it was say 20 mins away on the subway/bus. What area would one recommend for other foreigners/things to do in terms of living?
Another issue I have is a probably dearth of key money. I might be able to work on that, but I'm not certain. I';ve heard some places have zero key money. Does anyone have experience of this? My budget would be around 400k, is this doabe for a reasonable-ish apartment in Incehon?

That area can't be expensive.
You have villas as option. The deposit can be quite low like 1-2 million a in some cases. 400k should be enough for even a 2 room place.
If you want officetel, Ganseok Ogeori station area has many. The downside is you will need at least 3million deposit but 5 is more of a standard. 400k is enough too.
Lastly, you might want to consider the Bupyeong Stn area. It's more central with foreigner hangouts, shopping, entertainment, restaurants. Plenty of officetels around and villa areas within a few minute walking distance from the station. Although that area is a bit more expensive for obvious reasons. The rent might be similar but the deposits are higher. Try to negotiate with the school, see if they can give you 5m for key money. |

I'd recommend the Arts Center area (guwol-dong). Lots of villas and officetels around with lots of restaurants, movies, shopping, etc around. Subway may take a little over 20 min to Ganseok but there should be some buses that are much quicker.
I like it much better than Bupyeong personally as it's much newer and better laid out. There are tons of new villas/officetels being built now. |

Yeah I just checked the map, and it only takes longer by the subway because the transfer point is further north when in reality Ganseok Station is quit close to Guwol-dong. |
