C'mon SR...lay out your book of circular excuses as if it were a baseball card collection. |
Irony = a nation of immigrants complaining about imigration. |
When my ancestors immigrated Germany, it was to a farm. There was room for them. Also in addition to economic factors part of the reason for immigrants to come was freedom. There isn't any more resources for immigrants here in the US, we are running out. Also many Muslim immigrants coming here do not understand that freedom in this country is a big ethical issue. You can be Muslim in the US if you want, in fact you can be Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Agnostic or Atheist if you want. Many Muslims come here not thinking that way. Many Muslims feel that Judaism and Christianity is OK because they are "people of the book". Freedom is all according to the dictates of the Koran for many.
Anyhow Muslims thronging to Idaho is hardly an invasion, just exactly where are they supposed to go? What is ironic is they are flocking (if this is really true) to an area that is full of racial nasties. |
The population of the US is about 7 times that of the UK (Uk=70m US - 350m) The land area though is 40 times larger. If the UK has resources for immigrants, the the US most certainly does. |

There are still tons of resources here in the USA. We aren't running out of them (except maybe water in California due to a long term drought). |

This is the thread where fealty to the First Amendment became a proxy for "American"ness, right?
I don't think that's the right standard, but let's roll with it to see what we might.
Muslim organizations defend Pam Geller's right to hold a Draw Muhammad contest
| Quote: |
Alia Salem, head of the Dallas chapter of the Council on Islamic Relations explained to me by phone Sunday night that she had “passionately urged” Muslims to ignore Geller. Salem said that she’s a strong supporter of freedom of expression and believes that Geller certainly has the right to draw hateful cartoons about any religious figure she so chooses, including the Prophet Muhammad. But she urged Muslim community members to not give Geller “what she wants” and respond or even protest the event.
In fact, on April 25, Salem posted a plea on Facebook to fellow Muslims in the Dallas/Forth Worth area “to ignore and encourage others to ignore Pamela Geller” and her contest. Salem noted that Geller’s goal is “to incite our community and rile us up and I do not want us to give her the satisfaction or the media attention she thrives on. Without our reaction she has no story at all and no draw for the media which is what keeps her going and allows her to get publicity.” Salem concluded, “Let's not fall for it. Please.”
The comments by Muslims (and non-Muslims alike) to this Facebook post applauded Salem with remark like, “completely agree. They're not worth acknowledging,” “I can't believe how lame she is,” and “I can't believe the purposeful hatefulness of this! I'm glad everyone is getting ready to ignore it, they just want a reaction!”
Salem’s words clearly had an impact. As a local reporter noted, not one protester showed up to the event. And the event itself went on without disruption. (The shooting took place in the parking lot after the event had concluded.) |
If Muslim immigrants are considered a new addition to the U.S., then they are well ahead of wherever the Irish were when some did this:
| Quote: |
Rioters turned against black people as their scapegoats and the primary target of their anger. Many immigrants and other poor people viewed free black men as competition for scarce jobs, and worried about more slaves being emancipated and coming to New York for work.[8] The mob beat, tortured or killed numerous black people, including one man who was attacked by a crowd of 400 with clubs and paving stones, then lynched, hanged from a tree and set alight.[12]
The Colored Orphan Asylum at 44th Street and Fifth Avenue, a "symbol of white charity to blacks and of black upward mobility"[8] that then provided shelter for 233 children, was attacked by a mob at around 4 p.m. A mob of several thousand, including many women and children, looted the building of its food and supplies. However, the police were able to secure the orphanage for enough time to allow the orphans to escape before the building burned down.[17]
Throughout the areas of rioting, mobs attacked and killed at least 120 black people, and destroyed their known homes and businesses, such as James McCune Smith's pharmacy at 93 West Broadway, believed to be the first owned by a black man in the United States. |
(Note: Some will construe this post as anti-Irish. That would miss the point in a big and actually telling way.) |

Burglaries and Hate against Saudis and Kuwaitis at Idaho State
| Quote: |
The Pocatello police chief, Scott Marchand, said that his office was investigating the burglaries but had received reports of about two dozen, not 50. He also said there had been about 70 residential burglaries in town since Jan. 1.
Wendy J. Olson, the United States attorney for Idaho, said the Justice Department was conducting a review of the hate literature found on campus. “We’re looking at this to determine whether there is a potential federal criminal civil rights violation,” Ms. Olson said. She was meeting with foreign students at Idaho State on Thursday to discuss hate crimes, but said the meeting had been previously arranged.
. . .
[T]he burglars had somehow obtained the addresses of Muslim students, because their apartments were the only ones targeted in large complexes.
Patricia Terrell, the university’s vice president for student affairs, said there had been an outpouring of community support for the students. “These break-ins are, let’s face it, done by thugs, and they don’t represent the majority of people in this town,” she said.
About 1,200 Middle Eastern students, nearly 10 percent of the student body, have been admitted here as the university tries to address declining enrollment. The Idaho State Journal reported this week that Mayor Brian Blad, who was meeting with students to try to persuade them not to leave, estimated that the students contributed $100 million or more to the local economy. |

| IQ and other strongly heritable traits will ensure that these invaders join the underclass and drain the public purse. Very, very few groups are sufficiently endowed to contribute to civilization. The rest leech off our naive kindness. |
