|
|
I'm still on an E-2 visa here in South Korea and I took everyone's advice and went to immigration with my ARC and the business license for the Day Care Center (which is for government employee kids) and asked them for permission to volunteer here once a week for an hour. They said they didn't have a FLI (foreign language Institute) license and couldn't give me a sticker for my ARC giving me permission. But because it's volunteer they don't care and I can just go ahead with it.
I feel like I need some sort of document or stamp or signature from immigration to ensure everything is ok.
In your opinion what do you think I should do? |

If it's really weighing on you, go back to immigration and ask again, but this time make sure you write down the date, time or the appointment, and the name of the person who informed you.
Then go and volunteer your heart out. |

And get a completely different answer from someone else. |

....so write down the name of the person who informs you. first off, if they see you doing that, they're more apt to double check their info. second, if someone does give a contradictory response later, you can cite the date and time of your meeting and the name of the person who told you. record it if you want to get really paranoid. |

Which is exactly what I said in your original posting about this. Was it worth making another posting just to re-re-reiterate what you already knew?

If it is the same business, then it's OK. Also, you stated 'volunteer' work, so that assumes no payment. If that's correct, then you have nothing to worry about. You can work for free at any place you want. If you make money at a business that's separate from your E2 sponsor then you have to add it as an additional workplace. |
