Dears,
I am italian. I live in Italy and would like to visit South Korea the next October. (Is this the best month for visiting Korea?).
I am expecially interested in tofu because I make tofu at home but would love to learn how tofu is being made in Korea, starting from soy beans.
I have an idea how Japanese do, I know how Taiwanese do, but do not know how Koreans do.
Therefore I would love if someone could give me a help in findind the informations because of the language problem. My idea is to come to Korea and possibly stay in a small place where to see the normal korean life, away from big cities (if possible). And visit a tofu factory (a small one) and stay there watching the process of making tofu.
I also look for tofu machinery.

You're looking for "두부 만드는 방법", which roughly translates to "tofu making method".

Here's the whole search result.
I don't know of anywhere specific you could find a place to stay and observe the process, but I'm sure there are many. There seem to be a whole lot of smaller, local tofu producers. Most supermarkets will have bricks of the stuff lying around that look like they're locally produced. At least where I live in Korea.
October is actually probably the best time to come to Korea. |

Seconded, October is maybe the best month for weather in Korea.
A lot of tofu specialty restaurants produce their own on-site & I'm sure they'd be happy to share their processes. More authentic than most factory product. Consider the east coast. Gangneung in Gangwondo has an awesome little neighborhood of tofu restaurants that produces chodang (seawater) tofu, best I tasted in Korea. |

Most Korean immigrants to the US up until maybe the mid-90's made their own red pepper past, dwaenjang paste, soy sauce, and tofu at home. Since non-Asian stores traditionally didn't start marketing toward Asians until the mid-90's. |

Thank you very much for the informations.
There is a long list of tofu shops/makers, but unfortunately is in Korean language. I will try to find out e-mail addresses in order to contact them in euglish. Perhaps 1 f them will be answering.
Also very interesting the "chodang" tofu. I will try to understand how is is being produced (with seawater?). |
