Checking with the head of dev, we've actually hired three iOS developers out of these programs. In Toronto, it's a hot market for iOS developers and you get what you can get. Note, these are junior roles. A person's first iOS gig and we are willing to train them up. Not sure we're paying them north of 70K a year to start. That said, the first guy we hired last year is now my go-to guy. And he said he's getting a crazy amount of messages on LinkedIn from head hunters since he listed a job as an iOS dev.
Your mileage may vary in your own job market. And as a poster above suggested, as long as you're going in with a good attitude and an understanding you've got a crap ton to learn ahead of you, it may not hurt to acquire the ability to code iOS or maybe Android during your spare time. |
