So I fills this payday loan company form in online and they approve the loan of £250 (I don't need it really but I don't want to spend my own money for a month)

Then I phone them up to give them my credit card over the phone as I didn't want to do it online. They said it's approved but not confirmed (WHY do they always do this!) Then I aske what they need confirming and they said your employer and things like that. I said I'm not starting till next week and they said they can't help then until I start work. Then I gets this email saying declined as I didn't fit their criteria.

Bloomin payday loans. What's the point calling it a payday loan then for if they don't want to pay you until you start working? I'll just get a guarantor loan instead then.

The rates seem crazy. Now I get maybe if you borrow $200 and you're okay with paying $240 back after two weeks, but lots of people seem to not pay back the $200 and keep paying the $40 to service the debt. That's like $80 a month or $960 a year for $200.

Granted if you broke down a rental car that way it would seem crazy. $100 a day means, like, a $3000 a month car payment. Still not many people "roll over" a rental car. Money seems different, however.

I used to rent a car when supply teaching in the UK and they were just down the road from me. 2 brothers running a van and car hire joint in a shed in the front garden of their house. I rented a 10 or 15 year old car for about £400 a month which did the job and was what it would've cost going by train and bus.
