I have taught with one 'western' guy here who is epileptic. A very resposible guy, who never had an issue/episode while I worked with him. Me, on the other hand, had had at least two diabetic issues during the time I worked with him at the same place. Perhaps diabetics, epileptics, narcoleptics, et al should ALL be banned?
Ive been here for 20 years, and have seen seizures only two times here. That is, Koreans experiencing seizures...in public. Both were pretty much the same. I'm not a pro, but would say both were medium/moyen mal. 1st was 10 years ago. Lady in a restaurant across the table had it happen to her. Around 2 minutes later, she was fine. A student of mine had same happen in class about 3 weeks ago. Again, two minutes, and he was fine. Like me, it was more like 40 minutes b4 the fuzzies went away. Tis what it tis. Make sure a co-worker, friend, 'minder', or whomever has your back...just in case. But, yeah, get the job 1st. We arent disabled...not that there's anything wrong with that either. |

It is not about what we think.
It is simply a matter of jumping through the hoops and what cost are you willing to pay to jump through when there is no control or even justification if anyone along the line denies you. There is no appeal process.
If someone wants to go to the time, trouble and expense of beginning the process and trying to comply then they should know that the goalposts are not fixed and trying to get through them is an issue.
I didn't pass judgement on the poster. I just pointed out the pitfalls they are likely to run into. This ain't Kansas and your constitutional rights and protections end when you leave home.

Sorry, ttompatz, if my comments came across as a bit strong. They were not intended as an attack on you. You're right. The poster should know that their ARC could be denied even after getting here due to, sadly, a korean doc saying s/he's unable to teach due to a slightly annoying condition. |

A decade ago, a teacher from the USA had a seizure in the teacher's room during his first week. It was his last week. He was let go. This was at a hagwon. |
