I applied for my residency visa recently and one submitted document is a proof of foreign employment experience. I got the letter from my last employer in America and submitted it with my application. A few days later I got a call from the immigration staff that they needed the letter to be “certified” by the USA Embassy. I asked “You mean notarized?” and they replied “Yes, something like that.” It seems that the document processing just goes more smoothly if there is some document “certification” from the US embassy. I made an appointment to go in to the USA embassy next week to get a notarization.
Has anybody had experience getting a document “certified” by the US Embassy? Is there something that acts as a certification other than getting a notarization?
Does the notarization or certification clearly say “US Embassy” on it? It seems that is the most important thing just to give everyone a good feeling.
Thanks,

They (the embassy) don't "certify" or verify anything.

You swear an affidavit of authenticity for the original document. (I swear that this document is real/authentic, is for/about me, etc. ) Easy and meets the requirements for immigration.
