Hi guys

How much should a basic root canal cost in Korea (not including the crown)? l have seen one of those English speaking, Seoul-based dentists that targets their services towards foreigners and l feel they want a lot for one root canal.

l will visit a few dentists in my local area (Anyang, Gyeonggido) on Monday l think but l thought l would just ask people here as well.

Happy new year to all you folks!

Root canals should be covered under your National Health Care insurance. A crown can cost you anywhere between 250,000 to 600,000w depending on the material. Zirconia being the most expensive, then gold, then of course porcelain.

Root canals are covered under the national health care scheme? Do you mean the root canal treatment is free?! That is news to me. That is even worse!

Yes that is roughly what l understood about the cost of crowns (not covered, right?).

Thanks for taking the time to reply

According to my dentist the root canal treatment is covered under national insurance, so yeah, in other words "free". Possibly a nominal fee.

You can also get a yearly cleaning (i.e. scaling) for about 13,000w under national insurance too. Crowns are out of your pocket.
