I've got a virus that I can detect, can't remove.

Two files are found by virus scans..

DOS AGOBOT.GEN
WORM AGOBOT.GEN

The first one appears to affect the svchost.exe file and the worm agobot affects the WinNT.exe file. They cause those files to jack my cpu usage up to 100%. The virus is activated only after connecting to the internet.

I would greatly appreciate any help you can give.

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.hllw.gaobot.gen.html

Go to that link and read how to fix

Your first job after that is to download, buy, or steal an antivirus program and use it properly and prevent (almost 99.9998%) of infections to begin with

Yeah, I just got this laptop and I had just done a new build... not sure how this virus got on the damn thing. I had looked around a bunch of places and none of the solutions I found were worth a crap... so I just wiped the hard drive clean, deleted the partitions, repartitioned, formatted, reinstalled windows... and now before I go about doing ANYTHING, I'm installing the windows security updates and the firewall.

The Windows firewall is okay but why don't you think about adding another commercial firewall just in case? I have a double firewall working between Windows and McAfee. If you get McAfee Virus Scan 7.0 Pro, the Firewall is bundled for free if you select it in the 'custom install' option.
