I know it's a bus, but groping is so bad in Japan, I noticed in Osaka they have "women only cars" on the subway.

Back in the year 2000 I was on holiday here. I was hanging out with a Korean adoptee from the states. She was doing the get back to your roots thing. She looked Korean but I spoke more Korean than her. Anyway we were in Myeong Dong. She was looking at some socks being sold by a street vendor. Some old coot saw her a_ss, made bee line for it, groped it as casually as one might feel a ripe mellon at the market, and stumbled off. We were both in shock. Like, if it had been any city in North America the old coot would have been torn a new one. But in Korea you're a bit like "wtf can we do?"

If you have long nails (it works with short nails too), put your thumb between his thumb and forefinger and just push hard. That will make him let go of you. If you are going to do anything to him, don't kick him in the balls. I don't know many guys who stand with their legs far enough apart for you to get both his crown jewels. It will just enrage him and he will hit you.

I don't think that guy would've done anything to do you if you slapped him or spat on him as he deserved. I'm sure you would've had the support of those around you.

It may not seem like it but Korea's really cracking down on sexual harrassment. I was talking to someone who did his military service working at a prison and he told me that half of those incarcerated were in there for sex crimes. (This isn't really much of an issue back home because the buses or subways are rarely ever this crowded.)

As for learning pressure points... forget about it. Just use some common sense. Avoid crowded buses and subways if at all possible. Try to stand against a wall or by female passengers. And use your bag as an extra buffer.

When I lived in Nice, a guy groped a woman and she turned around and cracked him in the face with her wedding ring. Everybody was shocked but then started laughing at the guy. I don't think he will do it again. It is always good to avoid confrontation though.

Fortunately, I'ver never been groped, but have witnessed sickos exposing a genitalia several times. Yeah...rationally, I know I could have done all the wonderful things suggested here in this thread; screaming, cursing, cracking him in the face, etc, but whenever it happens, my body gets frozen. So, I just walk away. *beep*.

Son Deureo!: Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like the phrases you're using are a bit too polite for the circumstances. I wouldn't put any "Sae Yo" ending on....

I would say "Ha Ji Mah" for stop that..... or "Son Dae Ji Mah" for don't touch....etc.

(Sorry, can't get the Global IME to work on my computer to write in Korean)

Good question. I'd have to take it up with a native speaker to be sure, but I've always been under the impression that switching to banmal doesn't express rage, it just makes you seem childish, especially with a less than perfect command of the language. Whenever I've been chided by strangers (for being too noisy on the subway, and that sort of thing), they've always used jondenmal/respectful language forms even when it's clear from their tone of voice that they're mad as hell.
