My eyes are also blue, and yes, ocasionally the students can be transfixed with them, especially when I use my fingers to expose my eyeballs and roll them around.
Good trick could be to get a coloured lens for one day and go in looking like David Bowie.....no teaching that day.... Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Ugh...I have been on buses with the shrieking harpies that are middle school girls and quite often, they have turned around and said in great surprise: "Wow, blue eyes!"

Give me a break...Brad Pitt has blue eyes, Courteney Cox has blue eyes, Paul Newman has blue eyes, Shannen Doherty has blue eyes. Don't these girls watch TV????

You know it's so interesting how perspective changes when you are the teacher of those shrieking harpies known as middle school girls. Embarassed Embarassed Mine actually seemed to be in awe of my eyes and it was really funny -- they didn't believe I didn't have special lenses. They wanted to get special lenses so they can look like me. Granted they took up class time to interrogate me, but it was actually kind of sweet...and they have only done it that one time.

I have green eyes but students in several classes have told me that they were blue. Sometimes if it's the dominant student in the class that says this the whole class will go along with it. I've never caught these changing eyes in their blue stage when I've looked in the mirror. Maybe my eyes are having a laugh at my expense.

This reminds me: the green light on traffic signals is called a "blue light" in Korean. Ask a Korean what colour the traffic signal is for 'go'. Why? Confused Can someone explain? I know, I'll go ask Harin.

People differ on how much bandwidth on the spectrum to assign to each colour name but calling the green light 'blue' seems too much of a stretch.

I am red/green blind. So I have to remember that the green light is either on the bottom or the right [in the States].

I had a new kindergarten student a few months ago who cried hysterically and wouldn't stay in the room with me for the first 3 days she was in school. She finally settled down, but when I asked the Korean teacher why she freaked out so much she said, "She was afraid of your eyes." (yup, they're blue).
