I have a question for anybody that can provide helpful advice.
I'm thinking of teaching SAT / TOEIC / etc hagwon and maybe doing privates on the side over the summer. Since I'm not planning on working for more than 2 months, I will get paid hourly. My questions are the following:
1) What is the average hourly wage I should expect for SAT / Toeic /etc?
2) What are the differences between hagwons in Seoul (i.e., Swaton, Princeton Review) vs the local neighborhood hagwons?
3) What is the most prestigious hagwon in Seoul?
4) What is the best way to advertise for privates? Posting up flyers at campuses? Or trying to get students at hagwon willing for private lessons?
5) What is the going rate for private tutoring for SAT tutoring? Business essay writing? College essay / Grad school essay writing? (obviously stuff
Before you respond, let me give you background about myself. Graduated from top 5 university in US, over 1500 SAT score and I've worked at US firm in Seoul for past 3 years. Fluent in both English and Korean (speaking only). Although I don't have formal teaching experience, I have taught SAT at hagwon during college and have no difficulty explaining difficult concepts / strategies / etc to students. I just need to supplement some work while I study for my GMATs and prepare to head back to US.
Appreciate all your helpful advice. |
