Went to the Daegu International Motorcycle Show over this past weekend.
Had a great time, saw a lot of cool bikes, and throughly enjoyed myself.
Picked up a lot of cool swag as well. Brochures, posters, stickers, etc.
The thing I liked best about the show was that they let you get on the bikes, flip through the gears and push the buttons, and you could "interact" with the models and talk with some of the motorcycle business executives that were there.
Had an interesting discussion with one of the heads of Suzuki's Korean operations about Korea's emergence as a major player in the international motorcycle scene. (his take was that it was a good thing, seeing as how suzuki provided much of the technical expertise to hyosung).
All-in-all a good first effort by Korea to host a motorcycle show. I will definitely go again next year.

The Korean motorcycle company Hyosung is making a big push to reinvent themselves as a major international motorcycle company. Coming out with lots of cool and sexy new bikes and putting real effort into their PR campaign.
They even had sales brochures in English at the show.

I think the company that had the best booth at the show was Harley-Davidson.

1000cc? Wow...I wouldn't know what to do with myself, being Mr. 125cc and all. |

1000cc?
But, will they sell many around the world or even sell many in the bigest market in the world, the U.S.
I can't see korean made bikes doing well for years to come. Sport bikes? Made in Japan is the way to go it seems.
The V-twins?
HD rules the world. |

That Hyosung 1000cc V-Twin (and the 650 and 250 cc's in the Comet) may be "Made in Korea," but the design is all Japanese, courtsey of Suzuki.
As I currently drive the 250 cc V-Twin Hyosung Comet, I can say it's a sweet ass motor. |
