Yes. You did. Some things are worth repeating.

Foreign English teachers and prisoners mark off days.

What other groups mark off days?

BAH HA HA HA!

This is an AWESOME TOPIC!!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I was good for my first 2 months here, but after a terrible start to May, I got a calendar for my desk at work and have been avidly crossing off my days.

Initially the Korean teachers, looked at me with concern. Crying or Very sad

My roommate has bought a pack of Post-it's and has written how many days until we both leave, and we pull off a post-it everyday! And we cross off days on our calendar at home!

So right now I have 2 calendars and 1 post-it pile to count-down...only 84 days left! Razz

I didn't mark the days for my first couple of years here, except as a joke before Christmas vacation, etc.

I hate my new job, though, so I've been doing it since the second month. Right now I'm (hopefully) leaving it in a couple months, so I'm on a super count down.

I like the post it notes idea. I might have to use that. Very Happy Very Happy

I hate to say it but I count the days too. I used to think in days but that took too long and made me think about it too much so now I think in months. So far I'm half way there!

When I was living in Taiwan and had decided to come here, I marked off the days. In the last week, I marked off hours.

I still have the paper I used to do it. When I run across it, it reminds me how utterly depressed I was at the time.

In my opinion, marking the days/hours off made things even worse. It focused my attention on it. I think I would have been happier if I had focused on the few things I did like there.

I tried to do the 'X's on the calendar in high school but couldn't consistently keep up with it. And the days seemed to drag more, making it less than consoling.

That said, I have no problem counting down the days until payday when funds are low.

Ten days to go.

If youre counting down days youre in waste-of-life mode.

Totally. It's psychologically twisted.

Can you imagine thinking "Only 236 days to go" "only 235 days" "only 234" ...?

But maybe it's motivational for some. It's not much consolation over the long term.

fucking had me doing a countdown from about the third month. I was chomping at the bit to get to Seoul. When my employer gave me the shaft with 2 months left on my contract I was less concerned with the money loss because I got to leave earlier.

I've done it before. I know when I get old I'll wish I had those days back.

I feel sorry for people who are here 'just for the money'. We all need money, and we've heard a million times how 'the job market at home sucks!' but if you are miserable and do something about it for f's sake.
