God yes. You could buy a three-bedroom house for that in Thailand. Beach house.

I lived in Phuket for 2 years before coming here last year. In Patong I had a studio set up, air-con, cable tv, electric incl. with a kitchen and a nice bathroom with hot water (usually not needed in Thailand). I also had a porch with a table and chairs all provided and from what I understand there is now a small pool on the lawn in front of the houses. This went for TB 9000 and TB 8000 from May to Oct. There are plenty of long term places in all ranges all over the island, when I moved to Kamala BEach I was able to get a new bedroom, fully furnished house facing out over a buffalo paddy for TB10 000. Live further south on the island near Rawai you can get even better deals. A motorbike can usually be had for TB3000 for a month for a decent 125 Honda Wave or Dream. Beer at the store is usually between TB25-30 for Singha, TB 60 at a beer bars. Food when you have a kitchen is a lot easier and when you are there for a bit you'l know where you can get roadside Thai stall food for TB25 (probably need 2 though).
