On monday my middle-schoolers and high schoolers were all excited that it was KissDay in Bupyeong.
Apparently on this day they turn off the street lights in Bupyeong for 10 minutes and the kiddies can kiss (and make-out) in the darkness. Kind of like a giant, city sponsored version of the ole-sneak-off to the closet thing during spin the bottle.
Anyone else know more details and history of this event? |

It was Monday night.
Yesterday, Tuesday, my students were all excited about it and said they had a great time. Apart from one student who said her boyfriend put his hands where he wasn't supposed to. (ah, a young man after my own heart)
I would like to find out more information about KissDay. When exactly did this start and how did they come up with the idea. As someone mentioned, only in Korea.
None of the Koreans at my school have been exactly forthcoming with information. Just mumbling that it's a children's thing. And the adjuma secretary going on about the how unChristian it was. |

Kissing is un-Christian?
Hey Zed, this observation made me laugh. |

I've heard of kiss day before, it's one of those things like black day, rose day, diary day. . blah, blah fishcakes. It's mostly for very young couples, even university kids seemed a little embarassed at the idea.
I've never heard of the lights going out though- seven minutes in heaven anyone? |
