| as one who doesn't eat meat, i don't understand why people don't eat the entire animal anyway. i mean, if you're going to kill it, you should at least make the most of it! |

| Okay, everyone post... what's the most disgusting (sounding) thing you've ever seen on a menu in your home country? |

The most disgusting thing I have seen (but did not have the balls to even consider trying...in fact, when offered this meal I denied even knowing my balls...three times) was balut [sic]
I saw it in the Philippines. It is a fertilized chicken egg. You crack open the egg and a somewhat, mostly formed kind-of chicken is inside. You are supposed to swallow it whole. I think the eggis boiled first...but I am not sure that even makes a difference.
Ryleeys,
I have been in Asia too long. Your avatar looks like a menu to me... |

I believe there was a similar type of deal with ducks' eggs in Cambodia. I didn't try them either. |

Wow, brings back old memories of having them a few times. Didn't think much of them then and still do not think much of them now.
I guess one could rationalize it by thinking that it would be better to have them with soju then without soju. For I truely think I would need soju if I ever ate those yummie treats again. |

do you ever notice that whenever you see something on a menu that turns your culturally superior palate green... that some korean will notice you blanching?
"oooh, you should try. very good for STAMINA!" or just "very good for health".
i've heard this said about boshintang, bundegi, squid eggs, various tonics that taste like a sugar-coated sweatsock... and it's a pretty weak sales pitch if you ax me. |

I've eaten crickets in Thailand.
I've drunk snake blood in Vietnam.
I've eaten a steamed spider in Cambodia.
I've had "dove" (eg pigeon) in Laos.
Not to mention the mother of all things gross ... HAGGIS.
Trust me, Korea has nothing on some places. |
